Peter Weber is a retired corporate executive, having served as vice president of FMC Corporation, a diversified Fortune 500 company. Chief executive officer of Teknowledge Inc., an artificial intelligence software and services company; and CEO of Riverbend International, an agribusiness company.
He now dedicates his time to community and economic development activities in the San Joaquin Valley. Those efforts include the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley, The Fresno Regional Jobs Initiative, the Fresno Citizen Corps, The Fresno Business Council, Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Fresno Bridge Academy and Fresno Citizens for Good Government.
Weber sees clean energy as a potentially strong part of the Valley economy and energy conservation as crucial.
“The climate of the San Joaquin Valley is a mixed blessing,” he said. “On the one hand, it is crucial to the Valley’s agriculture, which is in turn a great source of biomass energy. With more sun days than most other regions in the country, the Valley is also rich in potential for solar energy. On the other hand, the Valley’s hot summer and cold winters make for higher energy use than in coastal areas and, correspondingly, result in greater potential savings from energy efficiency measures.”
